The past few months have seen a series of ‘new’ developments in our church. In the last newsletter, I mentioned that we were restructuring our committees and considering our mission goals. The result has been a ‘streamlining’ into three teams – Church (fabric and finance) Spiritual (worship and learning) and Community (mission and outreach) Reflecting on the District’s plan to create flourishing missional communities we’ve adopted a new logo and strapline ‘God’s Love in Action’ and aim to identify and meet the needs of our neighbours through engaging with them and by loving Christ’s way.

Our social events have ceased for the summer but have been popular. The curry evening found a dozen enthusiasts travelling on the no.36 bus through to Leeds for a sumptuous feast and much catching up on news. The Community teas continue to draw a good mix of church members and visitors from the neighbourhood each month. There is always such a warm spirit and despite the weather the Strawberry tea in July drew a capacity attendance and helped to boost funds for Horticap, our charity this quarter.

Come September, when our Film nights recommence, we’ll also be putting our hospitality skills to good use as we help to provide a warm Yorkshire welcome along with refreshments at Trinity and Harlow Hill churches during the UCI cycling event. Hope to see you there.
