Conference on Methodist Women Preachers in Britain c.1740 to the Present

350 years after the birth of Susanna Wesley, ordained women ministers now have numerical equality in Methodism. Taking inspiration from John Wesley’s ‘Extraordinary Call’ and his defence of lay and female preachers, this conference will focus on women preachers from Elizabeth Thomas and Sarah Perrin in 1741 through to the female Presidents of Conference of the 21st century.
