Berwick Grange

14 Wetherby Road, Harrogate, HG2 7SA

Spring is in the air and already we are looking forward to summer and warmer weather. At Berwick Grange residents will be enjoying preparing for the Harrogate in Bloom Festival with their miniature garden display. Resident Ian has been hard at work in the garden for most of the year and has his eyes set on higher things for next year and the large garden entries!

Thanks to all of you who supported the Easter Fair  which raised £500 on refreshments, tombola, cakes and cards - thanks must also go to everyone for the generous number of Easter eggs sent in [90+] which kept it running all afternoon!

Strawberry Tea, Saturday 15 July 2.30 to 4pm. You are welcome to come and join Berwick Grange residents for this popular summer event. There will be a tombola and a cake stall, and once again your support with donations for this event would be most welcome - these can be dropped at Berwick Grange at any time up until the event. The charge for tea or coffee and a strawberry cream tea will be £3 per person available on the door. In addition there is also a special raffle running throughout the year, the prize being a week in a holiday cottage in the beautiful village of Warkworth in Northumberland. Tickets for this great prize can be bought at any of the fund-raising events and cost £2 each.

Following an appeal in the last quarterly issue, a few people have volunteered to help with the Wednesday morning church service, singing and sitting alongside residents. This really is most rewarding for resident and volunteer alike. The recent service was particularly memorable with a good attendance of residents, many singing enthusiastically. It is particularly special to see the joy this service brings. The services start at 11am and more volunteers are encouraged to come along.

The fund-raising group works hard to raise extra money for the direct benefit of the residents at Berwick Grange, organising the different events, and many of the committee also work in different aspects of home life. In order to continue to provide this service, we are asking for your help. If you can spare a little time to come on the committee, this would be most appreciated. Meetings are held in the afternoons, but only once a quarter and at the moment, we organise 3 - 4 fund-raising events in the year.
