Harrogate Town Trail

In February members of our Mission and Heritage group joined St. Peter’s Archive Group and the minister from West Park URC for discussions. We talked about the idea of developing a town trail for visitors to Harrogate, and gave some thought as to how we could use the heritage of our churches for mission in the town centre.  This idea was formulated when last year’s Vice President of Conference, Jill Barber, visited Wesley and enthused some of us with her ideas for heritage and mission.

Since then the ecumenical group has met several times and there is much enthusiasm to produce a town trail.  We have sought the advice of local historian Malcolm Neesam and are now at the stage of requesting quotations for the setting up and printing of a suitable leaflet for visitors to the town. We will begin in a small way, involving just the three churches initially, and will gradually incorporate other interested churches that are not quite in the town centre.
